Subject:upload
Time:12:53 pm.
Mood: happy.
I'm on call this WE.
Not much happening at work, so I uploaded a vid of Smudge's pup chasing Fuzzy in the lounge. It's very poor quality, but it did upload.

My eldest, Freya lost her cat last week. Oscar was hit by a car.
All very sad and grim in the flat down in Dunedin. However, she and Rosie are coming up this week so we can give them plenty of hugs.

In other news, Maggie 4yo my baby Cavalier King Charles had 3 pups 3 weeks ago. They're huge! All already spoken for- I give them to people as therapy dogs in the town.

And - My Old English Sheepdog puppies have been born! Photo attached- 2nd and fourth from left. Two little girls. I was toying with naming them Thelma and Louise... but no one seems too keen on that.

What's been up with Fleab?

Well, in March got my Fellowship! Yah! I can now join Frodo battling Orcs in GP land.
Really impressed as now can write FRNZCGP, MBChB, BA, NZLSC after my name on Death Certififcates if I wanted to... but, eh, who does?
Me!
Of note got my Fellowship in 3 and half years instead of five. SO how's that for bragging rights?

In other news, earning huge dosh now.
Went locuming and earned stupendeously huge dosh- buy a house anyone? NO, not quite but you know 4500.00 in the hand per week is not bad.

Back at work and bored.

In other news...

Florin, my baby Old English Sheepdog was killed by a truck on 4th April. Devastating loss.
There is only one breeder in whole of NZed. I'm on the waiting list for two puppies, but in meantime rescued 5yo neutered Old English boy from living on verandah for last 4months of his life- flithy, skinny mess he was- but not now.

I've called him Arthur. Freya suggested name. He was called 'Boy'.

Rosie has changed her major to Mathematics- I think- who knows changes with the wind. She's also joined Young Labour, to get close to the rebel like leader who writes in 'The Critic' who went by the name Fernado Indigo Montyoa or some such- Princess Bride territory anyway. After a week, of 'going out' she was sick of him and Sam jumped back into picture. Poor Fernando- broken hearted apparantly.
Rose also went and 'interviewed' local National MP to get dirt on him- she's a little political activist.

Freya is aceing her Japanese and doing well in Political Science, looking at doing Diplomacy.

Terry is riding his Ducati and generally playing on games and PCs ad infinitum.

Here's a site that I really appreciate. It's for you Rosie especially:

Time:5:13 pm.
Today I received a lovely Xmas card from Rickfan and family. Thank you.
I was most impressed with the post time as well, not bad, as it used to take 6-8 weeks.

So here are some pics. One of Caligua (new foal) and Bella, his Mum.

One of Florin and Smudge.

And another of Terry (in his painting clothes- look at those knees!) and Sophie, our niece who has left her job in Queenstown and was traveling up to visit her Mum in Masterton; before she goes on a big OE to Europe and the UK.

Subject:What's been happening..
Time:9:52 am.
To anyone who wants to know what's been up with me.

Still a GP in Hokitika.

Shaved my head for Mo-vember about two weeks ago at a charity function (infront of barn at our house) where the Kids Ride for Life people, Lions and City Council congregated after collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House, cancer awareness, Prostate cancer (Mo-vember) and a green waste day.

So my head looks like a toilet brush.

Anna, (the other GP) has more forgiving hair and her's is much more sedate look.

This evening we are the judges at the Mo-vember shave off at the Beach Front Hotel.

Jim one of our nursesand Head of Lions, managed to nab a photo opp with Olympic Gold Medalists Sarah Ulmer and Hamish Carter as they sped through town doing some talk on exercise or some such, and will no doubt (aside from the photoshopped photos of certain other Mo-vember men with the Pope and Obama) win the contest for getting his mo taken with a 'famous' person.

Saturday is another Lion's event and more charity work.

So that's me... and the animals are popping babies everywhere!

Subject:new horsie!
Time:9:50 am.
Mood: ecstatic.
Wandered out into the rain on Sunday morning at about 11am- after waking up, so still half asleep. Doggies bounding at my feet, eager to explore where the sheep had been shot and roll in blood and such, etc. when I noticed something odd about my horses... the little miniature ones...

there was a NEW one!

A tiny little foal.

Who is now in the woodshed with it's Mum out of the rain.

Photos (or maybe video) soon!

Brand new item
Current bid: $3.50 | Reserve met | Closes: 7 hours
Minimum next bid: $ Auto-bid
Bid history
Hello, I use to live in chile with my best pal, Papello my pet cow. He was a gorgeus speciman in which we spent many days together enjoying the life the way it is meant to be. Everything was great until one afternoon I arrived home calling my friend,Papello,Papello where are you my little Papello? As I strolled around the corner of my little house I found Papello lying in a pool of blood on his favourite grazing patch of grass,DEAD! I burst in to tears trying to revive my friend but it was to no success. I thought how?why? in then which I noticed both his ears had been cut off! I reasurred I will seek my find my friends ears (in which I had just tagged with the number 04 42!). With all the stress Id gone through of loosing my friend, I travelled to New Zealand where my Uncle lives who orginally sold me Papello. Upon arrival I told him what had happened and we went back to his house to discuss matters further. Later that day he asked if we could go and get some treats for his dog. I asked one of the petshop staff what is a good treat to feed my uncles dog? She replied "we have these delecious cows ears which dogs love!" As I looked down into the box I noticed one ear in paticualar, one that read the numbers 04 42! "PAPELLO" I CRIED! Immediately I purchased the ear and took it with me back to my uncles house. After hours of talking with my uncle, I have decided to sell my beloved Papellos ear so I can buy a herd of cows back in chile in which I can spend the rest of my life the way it is meant to be spent. Happy, healthy and long lived.

Please bid and get me back to chile so I can buy a herd of cows and live the life I want.

Thank You

Comes with certificate of Authenticity*

Winning bid, please do not feed my precious Papellos ear to ANYTHING!

Subject:Too tired to pute
Time:8:12 pm.
Mood: chipper.
Been extremely busy.
Working locum shifts at the local hospital in the Accident & Emergency Dept., as well as covering the wards, on top of working full-time as a GP.

There is a very serious shortage of doctors on the Coast.

Got my book back from the professional assessor/editor, in summation her feelings were:

"You have a fascinating book here, but I think your plot needs strengthening, and needs to take centre stage, instead of being largely buried in imagery and dream-sequences. The mood and tone of the story is powerful and extremely well written, but the story development is too hit-and-miss to be really effective yet. When this matches the imagery and tone you’ll have a very original and fascinating book to sell."

If only I have the time and gumption to do something about it!

Terry's going for a job interview up in Wellington this Thursday. He'll have a nice day trip interspersed with two interviews of an hour's length each. I like Wgtn, wouldn't mind going back up there.

BTW we now have an Old English sheepdog (11 weeks old) called Florin (as in two bob), as well as the four spaniels, four cats, two sheep and three mini horses.

Busy, busy, busy.
I sent my book into the publishers, but they turned it down :(
They did suggest three other publishers and a manuscript assessor for about $600.00!

It needs more work before I send it off again that's for sure.

Anyway. House is sold in Dunners, girls in flats and Uni.
Terry up here with me.
Work is the same old, same old.

Maggie has some puppies- two- a boy and a girl- if anyone is interested in having them let me know.

Did you know pugs were psychic?

Time:9:25 am.
Mood: tired.
haven't been around lately.
Very busy.
Terry's having an operation this week and then 3 months off for rehab. Hopefully he'll be up here for that.
Freya's doing well in Occupational Therapy and working at the local mall.
KR is still at Uni, working as a check out chick and still in love with Sam.

I worked non stop for the last 21 days- four 13 hour shifts at the local hospital to help with their doctor shortage.

In short, I'm stuffed. Nothing too dramatic, just boring and repetitive House Surgeon duties.

Good news is the hospital has offered me a job in Paeds at a Specialist/Consultant rate.
Better offer me a ridiculous amount of money- quarter of a mill or so, car, petrol, power phone, pc, etc, etc. or I won't think about it. I'm on too good a wicket here in GP land for that at the mo.

Horses are doing well. I'm getting another mare this week. She's in foal, so that'll be exciting.

I have six dogs now. Minnie had her puppies, but out of five only one survived- told you I was busy!
I was trying to resus the runt with nebs, subcut glucose and oxygen- sadly, as the vet predicted, I failed. She wondered if they had fading puppy syndrome. I think Minnie was obstructed in labour and me being a bad owner did not notice. However, Minnie indulged in over vigorous cleaning with one- severing an artery in the thigh, so I guess we're both bad parents.

I still have the goat, but it's going next to a nice Indian family.

And I still have four sheep somewhere- they love to hide under the trees. I hope they're still on the property? Oh well, something for Terry to do post op- find the sheep!

Subject:Miniature horse - wot!
Time:10:53 am.
He arrived yesterday, so I did some research, i.e reading wikipedia and I quote:

"While miniature horses are the size of a very small pony, many retain horse characteristics and are considered "horses" by their respective ass hole activities."

ass hole activities?

Are they implying something about my horsie?

BTW pic spam of livestock shortly- once I figure how to download it off DVD camera.

Time:1:38 pm.
I've got four Suffolk sheep. They like to hide under the trees.
They do sheep stuff.

Next week I'm getting a miniature horse. His name is Luaki. He's just been weaned.
And Mini is having puppies in March.

I'm feeling hobby farmer-ish.

May get a couple of chickens. Not fifty. Two.

Anna and her stepdaughter and I went on a garden ramble on Saturday. There's a lot of money here in Hokitika I discovered, some of the houses! Whew, the architect bills alone would pay the national debt.

And there was one place with four helicopters in their own hanger.

Beautiful gardens of course. I managed to get a lot of clippings... I asked of course.

Terry was up last weekend. I managed to get him a free microlight flight. I think he enjoyed it?

I worked some nights at the local hospital. Talk about a walk in the park! Good money too. $135.00/hour.

Anyway, that's about it.

Subject:Childhood dreams
Time:10:54 am.
If ever you question yourself and what you are doing... watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

Are you where you want to be in your life?

When I was thirteen I wanted to be a pathologist. Then I discovered how cold and wet and unappealing it was, so I became a different kind of doctor.

Could I be a doctor?

No. According to everyone and everything I came from. No. I couldn't and what was I thinking?

But I did.

I still have dreams.

Have you tried to fulfil yours?

My advice, do it.

Before it's too late...

It could be too late sooner than you think.

Freya has been accepted into the Occupational Therapy course at Otago Polytech.

http://www.otagopolytechnic.ac.nz/schools-departments/occupational-therapy.html

I'm so pleased, this is difficult course to get into and the qualification is international. She'll always be in demand too, as there is a shortage of OTs - as well as every other medical professional.

In fcat, I heard that there is a worldwode shortgae of GPs- UK, Australia, South Africa, etc. Medicine is not as attractive as it used to be. Too much like hard work for most I think.
